Luke 5:17-26 accounts the story of a paralyzed man whose friends lowered him through a roof to get him in front of Jesus. Using this story as a lens, we see our mission as a church with fresh clarity: we exist to get people in front of Jesus so he can heal their brokenness. Just as those determined friends stopped at nothing to bring their companion to Jesus, we are each called to grab a corner of the mat and personally invest in that same mission — through our time, our talents, our treasure, and our persistence.
